I joined the BYC Volunteer ranks in 2017 as General Secretary having volunteered as General Secretary for BYC's sister organisation Barnsley Singers at their inception in 2016. Both my daughters have had the privilege of being active members of BYC, attending and performing in multiple concerts and touring venues across the UK.
In my professional career I have extensive experience in diary management, HR, finance, budgeting, events management, leadership and high level communications, communicating in networks ranging from senior professionals to lay members of the general public. My current role in a Multi Academy Schools Trust enables me to work alongside senior professionals in the sector and on behalf of young people on a day-to-day basis to ensure that young people's aspirations are always raised high.
Seeing the young people of BYC develop and grow on a weekly basis and to work alongside excellent leaders who nurture their aspirations really makes BYC a magical organisation to be a part of. It's astonishing how much the members develop and learn life affirming skills which not only sees them flourish before your eyes, but also sets them up for life beyond BYC. It's this legacy that really inspires me to be a part of BYC and I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity to volunteer alongside them.
