The Gala Dinner was sold out before it even went on official sale! We saw supporters from across Barnsley and beyond attend this prestigious event and our guests enjoyed two special performances from the Intermediate and Senior Choirs of BYC, a 3 course meal, the launch of our Grand Raffle, and a charity auction. The evening drew to a close with a disco to mark a successful evening of fundraising and music.
Our resident talented Photographer Sarah Brabbin was on hand to capture the moments of the evening, these are available to view here.
In terms of an update we hope to have raised much needed funds from the evening. We are still looking carefully at the costs but this will be a huge boost to our fundraising campaign and I would like to thank you personally for your generosity and kindness. We currently have 28 out of 80 children sponsored to go to Flanders which is a fantastic start - thank you so much if you have been able to sponsor a child or are in a position to encourage others to do this. For a £250 pledge we will ensure that individuals, businesses and organisations receive exposure and thanks via our website and social media. We will also ensure that your name is on the back of every t-shirt worn on the trip so that everyone can see who has made this happen. Our aim is to ensure that all of our children are sponsored to go and this would be a fantastic achievement. It makes everything financially viable and ensures that we can offer bursaries to lower income families. If you know of anyone who can help could you please encourage them to do so and pass on details?
We have also started a Crowdfunding project with lots of interesting rewards available. Perhaps of particular interest are the special concerts with the world famous Tuks Camerata from Pretoria, South Africa - one of the very finest choirs in the world under the baton of Dr. Michael Barrett. They will be competing in the World Choir Games with us but, thankfully, not in our categories! A clip of Tuks Camerata is here singing Indodana - a song written by Michael: Indodana - Tuks Camerata
The concerts in July 2020 will be the only opportunity to see both Tuks and BYC perform their WCG2020 pieces. We are anticipating a high demand for tickets and they often sell out very quickly, so please don’t delay in securing your tickets in advance!

Any pledges made, however small, will make a real difference to our fundraising effort. Please share this with others who may be interested. There is an option within Crowdfunder to Sponsor a Child as well as many other interesting rewards.
BYC is a special organisation for our town and demonstrates, in my view, young people at their best. I feel enormously proud of those connected who contribute so much to make this possible and hope that you will continue to support the choir in the future. Without your support none of this work is possible.
Thank you again for your support.
